Chatham 3 Fredericton 2 Friday, May 28th
JF Neveu tossed a complete-game four-hitter to lead the Ironmen
to a 3-2 victory over the Fredericton Royals Friday night at Royals Field. Neveu walked one and struck out ten, including
the side in the sixth inning, after the Royals loaded the bases.
The Ironmen opened the scoring in the second inning.
Jon Saunders led off with a double off the leftfield wall. He advanced to third on a Ryan Barry groudout, and scored
on an Allan Hilchie single. Fredericton would tie the game in the home half of the inning on an Ironmen throwing error.
In the fourth inning, Saunders singled to left, and was plated when Barry launched a two-run home run off the scoreboard
in rightfield to put the Ironmen ahead for good. Matt Wood would add a solo home run in the fifth inning to round out
the scoring.
The Ironmen return to action Sunday afternoon when they travel to Riverview to take on the Moncton
Mets. Game time is 2pm at Harold Page Field.
